"Hi, I'm Linda Wooldridge, I'm a home school mom. We've been home schooling since 1998. So how do you register your home school? Well in all honesty, it depends on which state you're in. Some states simply require that you register with your local school system. Some states will require that you register with an organization that supports home schoolers. In some cases, they'll even keep your records for you. There might be some class time involved, it just really depends on what choices you have in your state and what works best for your family. If you have an organization that is providing your oversight, that does take some of the pressure off of you in that they're responsible for making sure that your records are kept correctly. If you live in a state, as I do, where you simply register your home school directly with the school district, then you will be responsible for your own record keeping and providing your own materials. So do your research, go online, call your school district if you want to to find out what the regulations are for the area where you live. Make sure that you've followed the rules exactly as they're given. You don't want to get yourself in trouble by not registering properly or not keeping complete records. And by the way, while we're on the subject of records, regardless of what your state requires, remember that your home school records are your child's permanent school record and if for some reason you weren't able to continue home schooling, you want to have enough information so that whoever will be schooling your child next will know what you were learning and what they have, how they have done with their previous subjects. So find out what you have to do in your school district, get yourself registered either through an organization or directly with the school system yourself, and get started having fun with your kids. I'm Linda Wooldridge, have a great home school day."
