"Hi, I'm Linda Wooldridge, I'm a home school mom. So how do I get certified to home school my student? Well, odds are you don't need to be certified. After all, you're not an accredited school system, you're a home school family, and that's a totally different thing. But you do need to check with your state to find out what their rules are. How do they want you to format yourself as a home school? Some states require that you affiliate with a traditional school. Some states simply require that you register with their school system and begin teaching. I live in Florida. That's the way it works here. I registered with the county, I choose my own curriculum, I teach what I want to teach, and at the end of the year I send my child in for an evaluation and I send those scores in to the school district. As long as my child has shown progress, they don't really care how I formatted my school year. They also don't ask me what I had as far as education goes. As long as I can successfully teach my child, that's all they care about. But things may be different in your state, so be sure and check with the school district or with the state, or online at www.hslda.net, excuse me, .org. That is Home School Legal Defense Association. They have the rules for all fifty states and they can also tell you about any things that you need to know about as far as home schooling in your state. I'm Linda Wooldridge, have a great home schooling day."
