"Hi, I'm Linda Wooldridge. I'm a home school mom. We've been home schooling for over ten years. How do I begin home schooling? It's kind of like jumping into a swimming pool at the deep end and just swimming. You start off by getting registered with the county where you live. You'll have to do research online or through your school district to find out how you do that. Then it's a matter of choosing a curriculum that works for your kids and for you. And as a little aside, I really recommend that you choose a curriculum that's works well for you the parent teacher. Because if you don't understand it or aren't comfortable using it then your kids aren't get to do the learning that they need to do. Once you've done that decide how long your school day needs to be. Are you going to work in the morning or in the afternoon? Or a little bit of both? If you work outside the home you may be home schooling at some unusual times. That's o.k. too. The way you design your school system is completely up to your family. Make sure you keep track of the records according to your state law and send in evaluations if you're required to do that. Beyond that, the sky's the limit. Go out; count the ducks in the pond. Bake a cake. Go to the mall and check prices and compute percentages. How you get that knowledge is entirely up to you. It'll be a lot of fun. It's well worth the time. I'm Linda Wooldridge, have a great home school day."
