"Hi, I'm Linda Wooldridge, I'm a home school mom. We've been home schooling for over a decade. How can I home school my child? Well first of all, find out what the laws are in your state and possibly even in the county where you live. Once you've gotten that information which you can get online at www.hslda.org, that's Home School Legal Defense Association, then you can go on and register in whatever form you need to with the county where you live. After that, it's a matter of choosing the curriculum that you want to use, setting up your schedule to do your home schooling, and just jumping in and having a great time with your kids. A daily schedule can take anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half if you have a very young child, up to about five to six hours. More like a normal school day if you're homeschooling a middle or a high schooler. Which curriculum to use? Well that's entirely up to you. Some people just use the library and what they find in their lives around them. Some people buy a set curriculum that tells them exactly what to teach and when to teach it, and then there's everything in the middle which can consist of buying a curriculum, setting your own lesson plan or using co-ops or dual enrollments where you send your child to a traditional school for some of their education. How you do that is entirely up to you. Don't forget about that end of the year evaluation. A lot of states want to know that your child is learning, and they want to see what they've learned in that school year. Make sure you get that sent in by the due date and then you're ready to start it all over again. I'm Linda Wooldridge, that's how you home school. Have a great home schooling day."
