"Hi, I'm Linda Wooldridge. Let's talk about home schooling and scholarships, because after all you've invested all this time in your child and now you want them to get into college and wouldn't it be great if you didn't have to pay for that college. When you have a high schooler, you're not only the home school teacher and the custodian and the bus driver and the principal and everything else attached to home schooling, but you're also the guidance counselor. Unfortunately, you're not getting all brochures in the mail telling you what scholarships are available. You're going to have to go out and find them yourself. Check with your state. There might be state scholarships available for your child that home schoolers can get just as easily as any public school child. Also check with the university your child wants to attend and get that application in early because some universities give out their scholarships starting as early as September of your child's senior year and you don't want to miss out on any of those dollars and lastly, check out www.fastweb.com. It's a free service and they list hundreds of scholarships available nationwide. Do your research. It will take a little time, but remember you do have a high schooler who can help you with this and get that information in really early. Don't wait till the last minute. Then you too can send your child off to college and have somebody else pay for it. I'm Linda Woolridge, have a great home schooling day."
