Home education is a great alternative to public and private schooling. Prior to 1852, there was no compulsory schooling law enforced and most children received their early education at home. Throughout the history of civilization there have been movements in homeschooling and early education. The most modern movement of homeschooling began in the 1960s and 1970s when Ray and Dorothy Moore, professional education workers, began to question the validity of early education. There are millions of children being educated at home and hundreds of thousands more worldwide. In this free video series on education, homeschool teacher Linda Wooldridge discusses several topics related to homeschooling. Wooldridge begins by addressing how to create a homeschool curriculum, keep track of scholastic records, assess grade levels, become a certified homeschool teacher and how to start a homeschool group. She then suggests several tips fro making a lesson plan, planning a field trip, making a transcript, teaching a foreign language and dealing with socialization issues. "Hi, I'm Linda Wooldridge and I'm a home school mom. Sometimes people wonder what the difference between home schooling and public schooling is. Essentially if you home school, you are the school system. You have succeeded from the public school system in your area and you are responsible for every aspect of your child's education. The neat thing about that is you now have an opportunity to learn along with your child. I've been through Algebra threes times now. Once with myself, twice with my kids and I finally get it. So if you want to share in that adventure, just run away from the school system and go ahead and try teaching your kids yourself. It's really an easy thing to do. The best way to do this, is to start of by picking some great home school curriculum. Generally speaking we don't advocate using the same things that the public schools do, because those books are built for trained teachers and unless you've been through college with an education degree, you really aren't a trained teacher and you want the curriculum to help you learn to teach your kids. So go ahead, look at home school curriculum online. Talk to friends of yours who have home schooled and take the plunge. I'm Linda Wooldridge and I'm a home school mom."
