"Hi, I'm Amy McCauley. I'm a personal trainer at Gold's Gym, in Wilmington, North Carolina, as well as a group exercise instructor. I'm going to discuss with you, how to become a spinning instructor. A couple of things you want to look at, is going to the classes. At Gold's, we offer an RPM class, which is a Les Mills program. It's choreographed to music, and we also have a spinning class, just a regular spinning class, where the instructors, can choreograph their own spinning class. You want to go to those classes. Determine which spinning group you want to be in. Whether you want to do spinning on your own, to be able to do your own choreography, or if you want a class that is choreographed for you, so those are two things you want to look at.You also want to approach your group exercise coordinator, and he or she will be able to tell you, when the next certification is, and just the general information you're going to need for that. You want to go ahead and get your body conditioned for it. Spinning classes are very, very challenging. You get your cardiovascular system up. Not only try doing spinning classes indoor, but try doing outdoor spinning, riding your bike up and down hills, and getting your system ready for that. The class is generally about fifty minutes to an hour, so you're going to have to make sure that your body is prepared for that. It's a lot of work. Once you find out where the spinning certification is going to be, you're going to need to purchase materials, and they're going to have you probably get clipless pedals, shoes to lock into your petals. You're going to need very comfortable clothing, something that's not going to restrict the heat in your body. You're going to be sweating a lot, so you're going to need to have something that's kind of loose, that's not going to be too tight on you, and becoming a spinning instructor, usually takes about a weekend, and then a lot of training, just to get yourself ready for it, so that is how you become a spinning instructor."
