"What's another great move you can add to your belly dancing repertoire? Hi, I'm Johanna Krynytzky with Hip Expressions Belly Dance Studio in St. Petersburg, Florida. Let's work on our Arabic float. Now what we do with the Arabic Float is that we're taking rapid steps with our feet. As you move, make sure your knees are soft and your belly button is pulled in, chest is lifted, shoulders or back and down. You don't want to scarifying your body position just because your feet are moving. So as we cross over, we're going to take tiny little steps. It's easier to do this on your toes with the weight forward on the balls of your feet. Flat footed is you're not going to get the same look as you want. One foot slightly ahead of the other and you're up on your toes, taking tiny little steps. Now you don't want a whole lot of hip movement with this. That's something you can add later. But you want a nice clean glide like you're on an escalator. The tendency is that you cross over with one foot and this steps way out. And then you get the drunk Arabic float. Right? Where you have to, it's like, this kind of action. Yow want to avoid that. You want to have little tiny steps that are equal. So don't step out very far with one with your other foot. And then on top of this, you can add your chest isolations, you can add your head slides. You can do all sorts of stuff. Or add your hip movement to it. We call this the Arabic Float; floating across the floor and then adding an isolation. I'm Johanna Krynytzky with Hip Expression Belly Dance Studio help you with your Arabic Float."
