So, you want to learn how to belly dance? I'm Johanna Krynytzky, from Hip Expressions Belly Dance Studio in St. Petersburg, Florida. In order to learn to belly dance, there are many different things you can do. The main thing is, you want to practice your isolations and build up your muscle memory. So, if you're practicing from the mirror, with your knees bent, belly button pulled in, chest lifted, shoulders back and down, practice your isolations. Moving one part of your body, without moving the other thing. There are plenty of on line classes you can take a look at, to learn how to belly dance. However, belly dancing can be challenging and in order to ensure that you're doing the belly dancing moves correctly, you need to go find a local belly dancing class. Personal interaction with a teacher is always key. Because they're going to be able to give you tips that you wouldn't otherwise realize. Belly dancing is fun and easy, but it also can be challenging. So, it takes awhile to get really good. So, don't let yourself get frustrated, persevere, keep having fun with it, and keep drilling. And then, as you go, the moves will become easier and easier. Often, it might take six months until you get comfortable, or a year, or six weeks. Everyone is different, and everyone learns at their own pace. So, just do your best, have fun with it, and we'll see you on the dance floor.
