"Hi, I'm Donna Barnes. I'm a life and relationship coach and owner of NY Dating Coach in New York City. In this clip, we'll talk about how to tell somebody that you just want to be friends, and this is really a nice thing to do. If you've started to date somebody and you know that it's not going anywhere, it's really, they want you to tell them that you know that so that you don't waste any of their time. So, be kind about it. Point out to them what you really like about them, and say something gentle like "I really enjoy your company, but I really don't see us going anywhere as a relationship, but I value your friendship. I'd really like to be friends if that's something you'd be interested in." Do be aware that that might not be comfortable for them if they've already developed feelings for you, but I think honesty is always better. Don't lead somebody on and have them straggling along if you know that you're not interested in them romantically. They'll really thank you for it and they'll appreciate it that you were honest with them. So you can be friends with people, just be honest. This is Donna Barnes, life and relationship coach in New York City."
