"Hi, I'm Steve Jones and I'm going to explain how to calculate the volume of a cube. This is not a difficult task because a cube is a very special type of shape. In three D, it's a rectangular prism, but it's a rectangular prism where all the dimensions are equal. So, with a rectangular prism, we already have this statement that volume is length times width times height which is something we're familiar with, but in the case of a cube, we know that all of these are the same. So, in fact this is L times L times L or L cubed. We only have one real dimension. So, the calculation is very straight forward. If I want to substitute, for example, a value of three centimeters, I have to substitute three times three times three for L cubed. Be careful with this, three three's on nine, three nines are twenty seven. So, twenty seven centimeters cubed. So, unusually, a cube has, in fact, a very simple structure. It's got six sides. All of the same dimensions. All of the same area, and it's volume is very simple to calculate. So, here we have it. How simply to calculate the volume of a cube."
