How to Choose an Acoustic Guitar

"Hi, I'm Athena Reich and I'm an actress, singer/songwriter, and performing arts coach here in New York City. In this clip I'm going to talk about how to choose an Acoustic guitar. You can do some research on line at guitarcenter.com. They have, basically, any type of guitar that you could buy. You know, they have it in price, they have it by brand, and you can sift through this and look at all the types. Know that a Martin is, basically, top of the line, you know, Acoustic guitar. But, you know, you've got to think like your goals. Are you a first time learner and you just want to learn amateur, you know, then you don't want to spend a lot of money. Or, are you a pro, and this is your tenth guitar, and you want to just spend five grand and get top of the line? Think about your goals. But, really, all of this is very abstract. The best thing to do is just walk into a guitar store, pick up some guitars, and play them. See how they feel in your hand, you know, I mean that's the real way you're going to know. Just see how it feels. It doesn't matter the price or the make, really, it's about, choosing a guitar is a very personal thing, it's about how it feels.
