"Hi my name is Dr. Art Bowler and I am a psychologist at Manhattan New York City where I have my own private practice. In this clip we are going to talk about how to stop ruminating. Ruminating and going over and over and worrying about a certain event or something that has happened is really an unhelpful attempt at problem solving and when we are problem solving we really want to solve our problem. Ruminating is not the way and is a really waste of energy and our time. Some people find it really difficult to stop ruminating on their own and require the use of medication given by a psychiatrist but sometimes psychologists can help individuals understand where the rumination or worry is coming from and get to the root of the problem. Ruminating is a really unhelpful attempt at problem solving so we really want to get to the bottom of the problem. Without getting to the bottom of the problem the rumination will continue and may get to the point where it really takes over someone's life in terms of the amount of way it takes away from their being present in their everyday world. This is Dr. Art Bowler and this has been about how to stop ruminating."
