"Working on our relationship fundamentals, and the choices that we have to make. Today, we're going to be talking about how to choose a husband or a wife. I'm Joe Cuenco, with Family Resources. This is going to be the most difficult and the most weighty decision that anyone of us make, how to choose a husband or a wife. The spouse that we're actually going to be spending the rest of our lives with eternity, but we have to really understand what we're looking for, and are we looking for somebody that's, do you want a professional? Do you want a professor? professorial type. Are you looking for somebody to be at home, to nurture your children? Are you looking for somebody that you want to be a partner, partner in sports, any business activities? so you really have to understand who you are, and what you want, ultimately, as a relationship, and are your goals, and your objectives aligned? Do you want family? Where do you want to retire? Where do you want to live? What type of lifestyle do you want to live? and is there a cultural fit? Is there a religious fit? so there's all sorts of questions to be answered, and when you answer those questions internally, then you can go out and seek who you might want to find and choose, as an individual. Obviously, the fundamentals have to be there. The person has to love you, trust you, be respectful to you, communicate well, and be trustworthy, and so if these relationship fundamentals aren't there, then chances are that this person really isn't the type to have the ability, to build a long term lasting relationship. This individual also has to do special things for you. Do they make you feel special? Do they make you feel unique? Are they doing the little things for you? Getting you a cup of coffee in the morning, buying you flowers from time to time, or taking you to your favorite restaurant, and making you feel special, so these are all important things, but if you don't have common interests, common goals, then chances are, your selection of a husband or wife, are probably not going to match up. Relationship workshops, key, understanding relationship fundamentals, marriage education, will help you understand the keys that you're looking for,and that are going to carry your marriage and relationship, long term, so how to choose a husband and wife?
