"Hi this is Aaron Hale at Fitness for Life in Wilmington, North Carolina. I'm going to talk to you a little bit about the history of weight training. The history of weight training we get, it is very much believed that we get that from the ancient Greeks. Just like many of the other things that we can thank the Greeks for here in our lovely western culture. Weight training is no different. First Olympics began with the Greeks and so in order for them to become better physical athletes during those, during those times they had to find different ways to prepare themselves for those Olympic games. So from there it really just over time it just evolved around the the nineteen hundreds or excuse me eighteen hundreds really started getting more of the free weight equipment the dumbbells and the barbells, kettle bells, things that we have become more familiar with now. And that it just really evolved from there. So the history of weight training goes all the way back to pre Olympics and ancient Greek culture all the way up until now. So that's a little bit about the history of weight training from Aaron Hale at Fitness for Life."
