"Hi, I'm Amelia and I'm going to talk to you about how to use hair dye and hair relaxers safely. First of all, always choose the right product for your hair. Do not think that more is better, especially in relaxers. There's lye in guanidine relaxers and then there's also a product made with ammonium thioglycolate. If those two products are mixed, unfortunately, your hair will fall off in the sink. So, you always want to make sure you know what you've used previously or what has been used previously. You always want to make sure that you cape yourself up properly. Whether that be with either old clothes or an old t-shirt, a cap, anything that will cover you, because you don't want to make sure that you get any of these products on your skin. Hair dye can stain and relaxers can burn your skin. Also, whenever you're using your relaxer, you always want to make sure that you always use something called a base and you base around your scalp. All around your scalp and around your hairline. And that's going to prevent the relaxer from burning your skin. Whenever you apply the relaxer, always use a brush and make sure that you wear gloves. When applying the relaxer, you always want to make sure that you do not apply it over the areas that have been previously relaxed, and you do not want to apply it to areas that have been pre-lightened with lightener. So, if your hair's very dark and you've got a lot of blond streaks in it, odds are bleach was used on your hair and that can be used called de-colorizer, lightener, anything like that in a salon. So those are the terms that you'll hear being used int he salon. So, always make sure that you know what's been used on your hair before you start using any of these products at home. Follow all the instructions that the manufacturer provides in the box and follow all the proper timing instructions and you can have a successful and an enjoyable time using hair dye and hair relaxers at home."
