"Hi, I'm Amelia and I'm going to show you how to straighten your hair with a blow dryer. Always make sure that your hair is not completely soaking wet, you want it to be damp when applying the product. You always want to use a straightening balm, and you don't need a whole lot because the products nowadays are pretty concentrated. If you apply the product when your hair is soaking wet, the product's going to be too diluted and it won't work as well. You always emulsify the product in your hand, and then work it though the hair. And, you always want to focus on those areas that give you the most trouble. Most people have it around the hairline or at the nape area, this is the nape area. What I always do first, is I always like to use the paddle brush, what the paddle brush does, is it really smooths the hair out and gets it nice and straight so then I can bring in either my brush or my flat iron, and I don't have to work as hard. You see I got the hair mostly dry with the paddle brush, and I'm really using the round of the head to kind of pull that curl out, then that's when I take my round brush, and that's when I start actually using my tension and pulling that curl out. So, as you can see, this hair compared to this hair, is a lot straighter and smoother. Another thing I always use is the cool shot, it's that little button, that little mystery button that no one ever uses on their blow dryer. First you heat that hair up with the brush and the blow dryer, then you hit the cool button and that will lock that style and that hold into place. At this point, if you choose you can use your flat iron. So, you always want to comb that strand through, and then just smooth it with a flat iron and comb it out. And, that's how you get that hair nice and straight."
