"Hi, my name is James Flint and now I'm going to show you how you can convert your iTunes songs to MP3 format. You can do this with most songs that you've imported off a CD or copied from other people. You cannot do it with files that you've bought from iTunes.com, or the iTunes store, because those files are locked. There are some third party software that allows you to do so, but today we're just working with iTunes and its different functions, so we're going to look at converting files that we copied off a CD into MP3 format. So I'm going to go down, I'm going to launch iTunes, and you have to go and change your preferences to make sure that when you're importing something it's going to make an MP3. So I'm going to go to iTunes and then preferences, and here under the importing option you will see import using. I've got it currently set to AIFF, we're going to go down and change it to MP3 encoder, so you click okay, and now any of the songs that are in your music library, you can do a control click on them, and you'll see one of the options is convert selection to MP3, so you click on that, it takes just a second, and it'll give you a tome when it's done, and what we'll do is we'll go into our iTunes music folder to make sure that we did get an MP3 file. It's a pretty simple step, converting an iTunes song into an MP3, it's just important that you go in and change your preferences so that it knows that when you're importing you want to make an MP3. And then it's as simple as doing a control click, and that is how you convert an iTunes song into an MP3 format."
