"Hi, I'm Amelia and I'm going to talk to you about choosing shampoo for gray hair. Now gray hair tends to be courser and thicker than the rest of the hair on our head. And, if you're going to go completely gray and not color at all, it's going to maintain that course, thick texture. Gray hair tends to have more cuticle layers than natural hair. So, in order to keep it shiny and healthy looking, you're going to want to maintain it at home with some sort of hydrating shampoo. You're going to want to stay away from your protein base shampoos or anything like that, because what that does is that tends to harden that cuticle layer and you want that cuticle layer softer not harder. In order to make it softer and so it doesn't stick like hay off your head. Also, when looking for, if you're letting your hair go gray and you're trying to do it gracefully, you may want to talk to your designer about different techniques with coloring so that way you don't get that line of demarcation with the gray hair growing out and your natural hair being left on the ends. A couple ways to do that would be to cut it off completely or also have some highlights woven through. Another thing you're going to want to look for with a gray hair shampoo is, sometimes gray hair can turn yellow or brassy from environmental stresses. That can be from medication, that can be from smoking, it can also be from chlorine or the sun. Purple based shampoos and clarifying shampoos are also a great way to maintain that sparkle that gray hair has. So just make sure that when looking for shampoos for gray hair, you're going to want something that's both hydrating, and is also going to use a clarifying shampoo about once a week to make sure you pull off all of those environmental factors that build up on the hair. And, that's how you search for a shampoo for gray hair."
