"Hi, I'm Amelia, and I'm going to show you an easy way to cut hair. One mistake a lot of people who cut hair at home make, is they cut the hair wet. You really want to cut the hair dry and after it's been styled, so that way you can really see the cut and you can see what's going on with the hair, cause wet hair and dry hair are two different animals. We've all had that haircut where it looked great wet, and then when we got home and dried it, it was horrible. So, when you're drying, when you're cutting dry hair, you want to make sure that there's no knots in it, and you still want to section it out like you would normally, which means you just take this bottom half and section out the nape area. Most of the time when you are cutting hair dry, you're really mainly looking to cut those dead ends off. So, what I'm going to do is I'm going to use the comb and use that as my, and just follow my guide and see if I can find any dead ends, and then I'm just going to lightly cut across the line, the base here, and just cut off my dead ends. Then I'm going to bring my next section down and do the same thing all over again, using my first section as what we call a guide. So, again I use my comb and just bring everything down and where I see any pieces that are really yucky or that are hanging over the guide, I trim those. So, I'm just lightly going over everything being sure not to take too much off the length. Again, if this was wet hair, it would appear longer and I would be more likely to take more hair off. So, you can see that's where the guide is, and that's where I cut. So, now I'm getting into the layers, and as far as the layers go, I really just want to maintain what's going on. So, I"m going to just pull that hair up and where I see those pieces that are jagged and not looking very healthy, I'm just going to cut those off. But, again you always want to make sure that you can see the layer before it, as you can see, there's my guide and there's my yucky pieces, so I'm just going to nip those off, and I'm not taking a lot off. Again, that's where people make their mistake. Here, there's my guide, that's all dead. So, I'm just going to go throughout the layers, and continue to do that. And, I do that throughout the hair until I've come to the front. Pull these pieces down, and continue to do the same thing all the way around. And, when you come to the bangs, you're just going to kind of want to pull down what you want as your bang. Make sure the bangs are dry, and you don't want to put any tension on them. You want to use your comb, hold them with your comb, pull them down, make sure you've got all of the knots out, and go in this way to cut. So, that way I'm sure not to cut too much off the bangs. If I go like this, it makes a very sharp line which isn't very modern. So, I just keep going until the bangs have hit the right length for me. And, by pulling them all out straight like that, you follow the frame of the face a lot nicer. So, when you're done with that, you've done a nice home haircut. And, that's how to cut your hair at home."
