"Hi. I'm Jay French at jayfrenchstudios.com and I'm going to show you how to draw a pinup girl. All right. To draw a pinup girl, of course, there are numerous, in fact, limitless poses you can do, but let's do a classic. We get our figure in there and I'm going to get this really rough, so we can make this timely. The first shoulder is a little high there. We're going to do the arms like they're pushing back the hair. Arch the back. That's something in pinups you always want, is you want, this is almost ludicrous, sexuality to the positioning. Now, you'll notice in the side view, the barrel of the chest really angles and it may seem absurd at first, especially how it comes in, it almost comes in halfway in between the neck and the shoulder here. But you'll see how that works out. Kind of get the impression of where the bottom of that barrel is and that will help you put in your bottom ribs. Get your curve at your waist and let's do a classic beach towel babe. Let's see. Okay, we've got the curve there. And you can, of course, as your tastes dictate, decide how much definition you want to the abdomen muscles. The classic pinup girls, of course, are very thin and soft, not muscular. But pinups come in all shapes and sizes. And so this doesn't look like a double amputee, we're going to put in the bottom of the leg. You have to watch that, from the front view, they really can look that way. Toes will curl up this much, so don't be afraid. When the arm is up, the deltoid is more separated, looking from the shoulder line. Her head a little to the left, slight curve to the deltoid on the outside there, here it won't be there. Side of the breast, you want to remember to have more curve, curve in at the bottom. From this angle, you'll get some shadowing here assuming your light source is from this direction, but you still want to see some curving here. When you go in, if you go in with color, you'll actually use highlights in this area to get that definition., But, in line art, we'll just use a line. You definitely want to strongly define where the clavicle is there, collar bone. I made that arm a little too long. Don't make the elbows bony. And, of course, hair on a pinup girl has got to be very feminine. And faces are a whole different issue, so we won't get into that. And that's one way to draw one type of pinup girl."
