"Hi I'm Kim from Simply Beautiful in Austin, Texas. Let's talk a little bit about how to choose a foundation for your skin type. It's very important for you to know what type of skin you have. And making those critical decisions about your skin care regime, or your foundation. There's generally three types of skin type: normal/combination, dry, and oily. Normal/combination skin will be shiny through the T-zone, forehead, nose, and chin, tends to break out on those areas, but have a matte appearance on the cheeks. Oily skin tends to be shiny all over, your prone to breakouts and there's probably some redness and sensitivity. With dry skin you're going to have more of a matte finish everywhere, that's all. So what we're looking for in foundations is something that helps with those areas. With a dry skin type you're going to want to find a moisturizing foundation, a liquid foundation that has some support could give you a dewy softer look, doesn't sink into your pores and get absorbed. Normal/combination skin we recommend a water-based foundation with a light powder over the top of it to get a matte look and absorb the oil in the T-zones. Absolutely want to recommend to you people that have oily skin that you get a water-based foundation that has no moisturizer in it at all. Sunscreen and apply it sparingly. You want to use a concealer to cover up your blemishes and then go over with your foundation, you don't want to clog your pores. It's very important that you get the right foundation for your particular skin type because when you're wearing your foundation it can help improve your skin as well. Let's not make it worse, let's make it better."
