How to Control Aphids

"I'm Bill Elzey with Showplace Lawns. We want to talk about controlling aphids. Aphids tend to get on the underside of leaves and plants. They are long skinny looking little outfits that will drain the chlorophyll and stuff out of the plant. Actually they are not that bad because they do attract ladybugs and ladybugs are a beneficial insect. However, a good way to control these would be to number one, go to a nursery that sells ladybugs and let them out in your yard. The ladybugs will eat the aphids. That is a good, very good natural way of doing it. Otherwise you can use diatomaceous Earth, sprinkle some of that around, another good natural material or just take the hose with a blast of water and wash them off the plant. Three good natural nonharmful ways to control aphids."
