"I'm Bill Elzey with Showplace Lawns. How to build organic soil? First lets realize that soil by its very nature, is organic. So organic soil is typically saying, soil, soil. However, you do want to put some compost in with your soil. A good compost to soil ratio is 25 to 30 percent of compost to the soil. A good compost, like we have here, spread it, and then turn it in. You might need to do that a second time, and turn it in as well, and then rake it out. And that's basically your organic soil. This should be done on a yearly basis, to keep organic matter and nutrients available to the soil."
