"Hi I'm Jay French at jayfrenchstudios.com and I'm going to show you how to draw a Naruto. To start with a Naruto what we are going to do is a fairly classic and realistic proportioned head because remember he is young so his chin and length and side of the head will narrow as they go downward on the head, a fairly well rounded jaw line but not quite that rounded and a small but rounded chin, not quite that much indent to it just a little bit. He does have the exaggerated undersized neck although not that exaggerated since again he is supposed to be a child and we have, let's get the head band in there which of course is very distinctive. We have some of his hair which sticks out over it and some wrinkles and smaller shots you won't bother with the wrinkles because they are too far away. You get the plate with the symbol and maybe you feel like doing some details you can get the impression of the rivets. The hair of course is the most unrealistic part of this drawing style, very spiky, very straight spikes, no real curve to them and a little bit of hair sticking out there, in front of the ears and it is slightly more realistic ears than you usually see in animate. They have details so we are not going to do them all but we have the classic large animate eyes and his are pretty cat like. Again these are the only inclines. What you will have here on the side is just a division between flesh and the white of the eye. You have a large iris with a dark outline around it with a small pupil usually with a little outlined white highlight and I'll just shade that in to show where it is blue. You'll notice that sometimes closer in shots like this, I didn't do it on this other eye but I'll show it here, you'll also have a wedge taken out of a white highlight opposite which is also very realistic or more realistic than this style usually is. His eyebrows just stick out from the headband on this side. He does have very distinctive wrinkle lines on his eyebrows and his intense expression, notice it is usually just a shadow much like most animates but perhaps a little more detail. He does have a wider mouth than most animates do and part of that is because he is a male character so he has a minor lower lip shading as you see in many other animates. Then we have his distinctive lines here on his cheeks. From there you just have the distinctive collar which is something of a padded thing and then his distinctive costume which is essentially just a jumpsuit but we are not going to detail the rest of it right now and that's how you start with drawing Naruto."
