"Hi, I'm Jay French at jayfrenchstudios.com, and I'm going to show you how to draw Sonic the Hedgehog. Well Sonic has two versions, so we're going to do the more current or the later version and get kind of a sphere going for his head here, start it on the curve, his little hair ridges. And we kind of a sort of a banana shape here what is essentially his muzzle, since he is after all a hedgehog, and get kind of a teardrop shape for the nose, that is from this angle. In the older version it was more like Pluto at Disney, it stuck out and was a ball. And his mouth is always distinctively sneering, even if it's smiling it's usually crooked. Now we have of course the distinctive, the very large serious expression eyes. Let's get some of the extra lines out of the way so we can see. Of course you see how it curves up and then curves down, there is no separation between the eyes. And the outside brow ridge there basically, and that'll be blue along there too. Very long, narrow pupils or irises. And mostly characters from Sonic are like that. Always had that highlight. And let me get in his distinctive spine is what they really are, that are almost as large as his head. Now let's get his ears, just above, on the outside of the eyes is where that's parallel. Much like a cat, pointed, triangular, blue on the outside, and that same flesh tone is his muzzle on the inside. And a little round body, very simple, got a flesh tone on his belly again, flesh tone on his arm, and the very large over-sized hands which are quite a bit more detailed than most of the remaining factors such as body or the hair, a lot of detail in the hands 'cause that's how he shows what he's doing in the game. So here we have his knee coming out over here, and another one of his spikes showing, and make some dramatic, very dynamic angles on this, 'cause he's Sonic the Hedgehog. He's got these baggy socks, very exaggerated, over-sized feet. This is even in the classic version you'll have that, all of them are pointed in the classic version, and a bit more rounded here, and in this case, and this arm is hidden by the spikes, so you just kind of see a fist. But again, remember to make the hands a lot more detailed than the rest because they are the focus point. And that's how you draw the newer version of Sonic the Hedgehog."
