How to Do an Ollie on a Skateboard

"How are you doing there, I'm Simon Bingham, from No Comply Skate Shop, and I'm going to tell you, how to do an Ollie. Alright, the Ollie is the most important skateboard trick there is, because this is what we use to get the board off the ground, it is the basis for all tricks. So this is a tricky one, and it happens really quickly. But basically, you're putting your weight on your back foot as quick as you can, smacking the tail to the ground as hard as you can, at the same time sliding your foot up the grip tape, which is on the top of the board, which is, we put on here specifically for an Ollie. And as your foot slides up the board, from after you smack your tail, that's what actually picks the board off of the ground. And, so, it's really getting that timing of sliding your front foot up the board, and smacking your tail and getting those timed, so that they happen almost exactly at the same time, but you want that the tail smack to hit first, and the sliding of the foot up, and the jump to come at the same time. I know that sounds a little difficult to do, but concentrate on the tail smack, and hearing that tail really smack the ground good, and the rest will follow. And once you're up in the air, kind of just tuck your knees up, to get that board to come a little closer, to center to your body, and then just ease it down, bend your knees as you land, keeping your back straight, and ride away with a big smile on your face."
