"Coach Rudy here, I've won championships both as a coach and as a player. Another fundamental part of the game of basketball shooting. Right, the jump shot is crucial. There's a nuance to the jump shot called the fade away. Now what that is, is once you dribble the ball to the position that you know, you are going to shoot the shot and the defender is a little bit bigger then you are, you slightly lean your shoulder into the defender and arch your back away from the defender, put arc on the ball so that it gets over the out stretched arms of the defender. It goes into the basket, this requires a lot, a lot, a lot of practice. You get the ball, dribble the ball to the position that you want to shoot the ball in. Alright. Slightly lean your shoulder into the defender, arch your back, let the ball come high as an arch over the out stretched arm of the defender into the hole. A lot of really good players use the fade away. Practice it, learn it, make it a crucial intricate part of your game. Learn how to shoot the fade away."
