"Coach Rudy here, I've won championships both as a coach and a player. Basketball is a team game, here's an example of that. A lot of guys never really get to shoot the ball, but unless they set the Pick for the shooter, that shooter would not get an open look. Setting a Pick is really really important and if you set it incorrectly you'll get a foul called on you, alright. Setting a Pick it can be done in a couple ways, the first established way to set a Pick is to get your feet planted firmly about shoulder length apart and stop moving, cover your private parts, stay stationary, prepare for a collision because you're probably going to have one, alright. Another way to set a Pick is to run directly towards the dribbler, alright, and not get up on the guy that's guarding him but about a foot away, and let the dribbler bring the guy into you, alright. Setting a Pick is a very important part of running an offense. Getting your feet set, either being on top of the defender that's guarding the ball or the player that's away from the ball, establishing your shoulders, not moving if you move at all it's a foul on you, you have to be ready to take the collision, or running across the court to where the dribbler is, being about a foot away from his guy, setting the Pick, letting the dribbler bring guy into you, prepare for the collision. It's not pretty it's not glamorous but it's crucial if your offense is going to work. Learn how to set a fundamental Pick."
