"Have you ever thought about trying a fast in order to lose weight. How do you lose weight through fasting? It's actually very easy. But the first thing I want to share with you, is safety. Hi, my name is Jani Roberts, and I'm a graduate of the American Academy of Nutrition, and also, a Nationally Certified Personal Trainer. Whenever you're going to do a fast, you definitely want to have somebody monitoring you. Remember, whenever we stop eating, that blood sugar can really plummet, it's really not what we're designed to do, so be safe about it. Always drink water, never dehydrate yourself. Even though you may not choose to eat, you definitely want to stay hydrated with water. Now, there's lots of different kinds of fast to choose from. You can do a juice fast, you can do a liver cleansing fast, there's many kinds. So do your research, check it out on the net, and again, if you need help, seek out a nutritionist, or a dietitian. Remember, there's about 3 thousand calories to a pound. So in order to lose that pound, we need to eliminate about 3 thousand calories. Now certainly, most of us are eating a lot more than that in a day, so we wouldn't even have to give up all of your food, in order to see weight loss. When I do a fast, I usually do it as a juice fast, I don't eliminate all of my caloric intake, because it would just simply leave me too fatigued, and it really isn't productive. However, doing a juice fast, can be awesome. What you do, is, you actually use organic produce. You take the organic produce, and you put it through a juicer. So when I do that, I'm actually cleaning it really well, I don't peel it, I leave all of the skin on, and I force it in whole, through the juicer. So, I'm juicing the skin, I'm juicing the seeds, the stem, everything, there's a lot of nutrients found in that part. So, by doing that, then it extracts all of the fiber, and I'm just left with all of that nutrition. So, I can take, for example, a huge bag of organic lettuce, and juice it down to about a half, maybe a quarter cup of juice. I can throw an apple in there with it, make it a little bit sweet, and I've gotten all those nutrients that I needed for a day, all of my servings of vegetables. I'm also reducing, there's no fat, so I've taken all of that out of my diet. But you also have to remember, there's no protein either. So you can't juice fast for too long. Really any kind of fast, should be done in a short period of time. And again, you want to make sure that it's being monitored, have somebody keep an eye on you, keep it safe. Certainly, you can lose weight with the fast, just be safe. I'm Jani Roberts, thanks for joining."
