"So let's talk about how to pick evening gowns for a beauty pageant. It should be a color that suits you, that goes with your complexion, hair so forth. I think you should see, estimate what are your assets in the pageant. For instance this gown, if you have a good bust, this is quite low cut so for a bit more voluptuous woman I would say this one. And it has a cut for the legs to come out, so if you feel like your legs are your assets you should pick something that shows off your legs. I bought this gown from a friend of mine and she's an ex pageant girl, she's sort of retired. And she sold this for me. I have one principal though while buying used gowns. I buy gowns with a good karma on them as well I like to say. That means that it was in a pageant and got something out of it. So that the girl in it won something. It's just a silly thing I do. But I find it gives me confidence to know that, that gown won something before. Instead of a gown that was the pageant was lost in. This gown is a classic example of an evening gown. This was actually sponsored for me while I was in a pageant in Ethiopia. It has details so it's, it looks flamboyant even though it's not quite revealing. So it's good for a more traditional pageant also. It's strapless so you do need to have the curves to fill it up though. So it's for a not necessarily voluptuous but for a curvy girl, good. And there's a really long train in this one, so I would say that you need a bit more experienced beauty queen to master how to walk with a train like this. It can be quite tricky. It's quite embarrassing to trip on your own hem on stage. It's, it won't look good in front of the judges. With colors it's good to use a color that goes with your complexion of course. But colors go in and out of fashion. But I find it good to wear a gown with a bold color and something that the other girls don't have. You should have a variety of gowns with you so you can take your pick based on what the other girls are wearing. Say many girls are wearing white, so you take something totally something else. Green for instance. Black is flattering color, but it's quite boring. So I might pick it for a cocktail dress. Or for a smaller event or for a evening gown or even a sponsored event. I would pick something bolder because you won't stand out with black. It can look cute but I don't think it will quite make you stand out from the crowd. And that's the evening gowns for a beauty pageant."
