"Difficulties in being a beauty queen: spending a lot of time away from friends and family is, of course, difficult, and if you live on your own then you're paying for an apartment which you're never in and anyway your income is not guaranteed so that can be stressful that you don't know where your next money is coming from. Maintaining yourself, and buying pageant wardrobe, and etcetera is very expensive so that can be also stressful. If you have already entered a pageant and you are trying to find sponsors, but no one really giving you a green light, its hard to sleep at night when you know you have got to go and you haven't got the evening gowns and your hair is still not dyed and your nails are all cut up. It can be very stressful. Of course, everyone misses their family and friends, but with us its long term, like we have to be on location sometimes even two months. It can be very lonely being away, but I make phone calls all the time and write emails and keep in touch that way. Sometimes if the pageant is nearby, I might ask them to visit me, and well, the pageant schedules are quite hectic, but you can always squeeze them in for a few hours somewhere. So, they'll be out enjoying the holiday anyway so you can ask them come and see your show for instance."
