"A lot of painters pay close attention to edge, not only in the marks on the surface of the canvas, but the edge of the canvas itself is a physical border between the surface where the art sits and the rest of the world. Some artists employ the edge as part of the art work in different ways. You know you can paint the edge monochrome. Or you can have the art kind of wrap around or you can accentuate certain material that you are painting on, be a special kind of linen or fabric. With a pattern perhaps. My attitude about the edge is this is where the paint you know spills over the surface. That in itself is exciting and gives the painting a quality of an event. So leave it like that. Framing you know there's a couple of options. But for basic initial exhibition I think this works just fine."
