Summary: When mixing a track in Pro Tools, the right input setting is important for getting a good-quality recording. Adjust input settings in Pro Tools with tips from an experienced music engineer and producer in this free video on music recording.
"The track input is very important because when making a bus or recording anything, you gotta make sure your input is right. A lot of people have problems with the input or they have problems recording because their input isn't correct. So, depending on what you're working with, usually you know, track one or input one is the input. So you gotta make sure that when you're recording something you start with the mix window first. This input right here is the audio track that I want to record. Right here is where I could actually record. What I have to do is actually assign an input. So within my enter space I could choose where I want to record or not to choose record it, channel one two and it'll go out analog one two. This is my input and this is my output. Now, on this one, I'm choosing an input of seven eight because I'm busing this track in to here. This is very important that you have, you set your input to bus seven eight. It's like a separate path, you know what I'm saying? As long as nothing else is assigned to seven eight, this track not only will play through analog one two, but it also will play through this track, through seven eight and it'll play out through one two again, through a separate track."
