Summary: When mixing a track in Pro Tools, use the master fader to adjust track volume. Fade audio tracks in Pro Tools with tips from an experienced music engineer and producer in this free video on music recording.
"Master faders are very important because they- they give you like an extra control on what's being sent through a certain path. If I have everything going out to my analog one-two, this master fader is going to effect the master volume on basically my entire project because my one-two is going out to my speakers. Now if I have a bus, like I just made a bus from 7,8, this audio file is bussed out to 7-8 to this track right here. Now if I wanted to control how much goes into here, I could do that through this fader right here but what I could also do is make a brand new master fader because if I made a new master fader that was stereo, and assigned it to 7-8, the bus 7-8 is not going to be effected by this fader as well. So, if I have something playing through here, how much goes into this auxiliary track could also be determined by how high this fader is. Now if I don't want this, I could always delete this one track and go back to using just my regular send, view fader."
