"Getting licenses and permits for a business is, there is a lot of busy work there but it is not too difficult. This is Clayton Christopher with Sweet Leaf Tea Company and the first thing you need to do to start a business is you have got to incorporate through The Secretary of State and you have to figure out what type of company do you want to be. Do you want to incorporate as a limited liability corporation? Do you want it to be an S Court, C Court, a limited partnership? There are four or five different types of entities that you can create to start your company and a CPA is going to be the best person to consult to decide what fits your needs the best. They each have different benefits and there are different issues with each one that you have to deal with so I would suggest going to a CPA to decide what type of entity. After that just depending on the industry that you are in like Sweet Leaf, we're in the food and beverage industry. We create organic iced teas so we have to get permits from the USDA to become organic, that is a yearly permitting. We also have to get a permit from the Food and Health Department each year so it is a pretty painless process. It is just filling out a lot of paper work and that is what most of those permits and licenses are so on line as you are right now is a great place, a great resource and depending on what industry you are in there is usually some sort of governing agency from the US that governs that field that you can go to and look up on line as well.
