"For the second audition and even the third audition, you want to have the actors read from the script. You want them to read something that the character is saying. So you just get a better sense of if they're right for the part or not. So ahead of time I would email them that portion of the script that they're trying out for. The character. And there should be a lengthy bit of dialogue so find something in the script that really fits the character. So it's a little bit more work. When they come in they're prepared, they'll read for the character. Sometimes you have one actor who's reading for a couple parts so just make sure to give them all the information ahead of time. It makes it easier for you. Again, video tape it. Have them say their name, their contact information. And you're going to be talking to them a little bit more because they're going to be asking about the character like even stuff like where the character's from, if they have an accent. Stuff that's not in the script. Stuff that you should know because you wrote it so if they have a question you're the director so you have to have an answer. And that gives you sense about how they're going to be on the set. Because you're actually directing them already during the audition."
