"Hi, my name is Michael Quebec and today's subject is how to find a mixed Martial Arts school in your area. Well, I've been doing all of our subjects for this series here at Heritage Gym in Union City. This happens to be a mixed Martial Arts school. Well, how do you find a mixed Martial Arts school like this particular school. Keep in mind the three main disciplines that make up mixed Martial Arts are primarily Mui Tai or Tae boxing, Jujitsu, or Brazilian Jujitsu, specifically, and conventional western boxing that has been adapted for use of where kicks and grappling are allowed. And, of course, there are a few other disciplines that go into it. Carole Parisian, he's a Judo player. He uses Judo in his MMA. There's another fighter who uses some Tae Kwon Do techniques in his MMA. There are a lot of ex-pelagic wrestlers or indoor Greco-Roman wrestlers who use their disciplines in mixed Martial Arts, but the three primarily; three primary disciplines are boxing, Tae boxing and Jujitsu. So, those are the first three that you have to find out as when you're talking about MMA, and keep in mind, mixed Martial Arts as a generic term, can refer to any Martial Arts that; that include punching, kicking and, of course, grappling, you know; all of the grappling techniques. Well, under that kind of definition, Kiju Kimbo can be considered a mixed Martial Art, but, of course, Kiju Kimbo is a street fighting, self-defense oriented Martial Art, which is very effective I should add for street defense. Whereas, when we're talking about MMA, we're, specifically, referring to UFC Pride type of sporting competitions which use Tae boxing, boxing and Jujitsu. So, when scouting for an MMA gym, find out first if they teach, at least, two of those integrated into each other. Two of those styles, two of those three styles integrated with each other, and secondly, find out what the experience level is of the main instructor. Of course, there's going to be a lot of junior instructors under these who may or may not have a lot of fight experience, but they know how to explain things, and that's perfectly fine because if they can explain it, you can learn, but you also want to know where the other instructor is coming from, who he's learned from and what his experience is, and how he can impart; very important, how he can impart that knowledge to you because he may be a great fighter, but he may not be a great coach per say. So, you want to make sure that this is something you can get something out of. So, that is one way, to look at determining a mixed Martial Arts gym in your area when you're doing a search Online or in the phone book, and my name is Michael Quebec. Thank you."
