"Hi my name is Michael Quebec and I am here at the Heritage Gym in Union City and today's study is how to fight. Well that's a loaded question and I'm going to take it in terms of Martial Arts Competition of how to fight. Keep in mind that when you are talking about how to fight it depends on the rules and the situation so for instance if I'm in an American kick boxing type of competition the rules dictate that there aren't any kicks below the waist so that means there are no leg kicks going to come at me. Also there is no knees, there is no elbows and you are not supposed to hold the person in a clinch. The rules are very similar with boxing with the added exception of kicks allowed above the waist. I'm going to take a boxing stance here so that way I have protected my mid section. I have got my hands up high so I am taking, yes I'm taking a modified boxing stance, elbows in, hands up high right at the cheeks or even the eyebrows and I have got my shoulders up behind so in case I do get hit which is going to happen at least my head doesn't snap and less chance of me getting knocked out. I want to be aware of the distance so right here obviously this is punching range so if I am going to throw punches, the range you want to be for when you are throwing your techniques should be where your arm bends for punches, where the knee bends for kicks and that way I have full power behind everything that I do. If it is a Muay Thai competition or an adapted Muay Thai competition, this is going to be my stance. My elbows in, hands even higher, yes I am facing a little bit more and I am getting a little bit more of a rhythm. Whether it is Muay Thai or American Kick Boxing I always want to throw my whole bodyweight behind the blow. That goes into range but it also goes into the subject of putting your hip behind it so this is a round kick right at the legs. You notice I am hitting with the shin. Also the same thing with the knee. Here is my punches and elbow so regardless of what I am throwing I am trying to put my hip behind it. So that is more like a Muay Thai Competition. So that is in a nutshell how to fight and my name is Michael Quebec. Thank you."
