"Hi my name is Michael Quebec. I'm here at the Heritage Kick boxing Gym in Union City, and today's subject is how to make a fist in karate. Well, I'll show you simply by doing it. I've got my hand open right here. I've got my hand open right here. From there, I'm going to bend my fingers inward just like that. Now, I'm going to curl the fingers inside. Thumb is on the outside and there it is. There is your karate fist. Let me do that again. Palm open, fingers in, fingers curled, folded in, thumb on top. Never put the thumb on the inside. That's a good way of breaking your thumb. Now, once we've gotten that clear, these two knuckles right here are the ones used primarily for karate. Interestingly enough, when I started boxing, my boxing coach who has no experience in karate, but years of experience in boxing, he told me to focus on these two knuckles as well. So, the same holds true for boxing. The way you hold this fist in karate is very similar to Wing Chung Kung Fu except the striking area are these last three knuckles right here. Okay, open, bend, curl, thumb on top, two knuckles on the front. My name is Michael Quebec, and this is how to make a fist in karate."
