"Hi, my name is Michael Quebec, and I'm over her at Heritage Kick-boxing Gym in Union City, and the subject today is how to assume a fighting stance in Tae Kwon Do. Well, because of the rules of Tae Kwon Do, we tend to generate a semi-maldesa or semi-horse stance, and it is side ways. So, I do have my feet a little bit wider than shoulder width, and I am facing my target with my shoulder. It doesn't matter which side, and I have my hands right here. I'm staying on the balls of my feet so that way I can switch, switch stances at will. Now, keep in mind that this is for Tae Kwon Do, specifically. You notice my hands are a little lower than they would be in boxing. Olympic style Tae Kwon Do, there's no face shots allowed, and so that way I don't; that's why I don't have my hands right up here. Also, because I'm sideways, if I was aspiring in Tae boxing, Mui Tai, or kick boxing, where they allow the leg kick, I would be more vulnerable for the leg kick, but in Olympic style Tae Kwon Do, everything is from the waste up, no face shots allowed with the hands, and so you tend to have the hands a little more here, and it's a little more sideways. Notice that I am keeping my feet active, and I've got my heels on the floor. So, this is how to assume a fighting stance in Tae Kwon Do. Thank you."
