on 8/21/2009 Gad, what a load of bs. "Boxing or learning wing chun..." Yeah, right, except boxing works and wing chun is pretty ineffective. Ever seen wing chun techniques in any pro fight in any country, ever? Anyway, if one wants to actually learn a martial art, start with this article: http://www.bullshido.net/forums/showthread.php?t=88851

It has good advice, rather than blathering bs.

"Hi my ame is Michael Quebec. I am here at the gym in Union City and today's subject is how to choose a martial art to learn. Well obviously learning, if he idea of learning is the goal then of course you want something that is totally opposite from what you have done in the past. How to choose a martial art to learn, well if you are the kind of guy who has been using your hands all your life but you've never kicked then obviously choosing a martial art to learn should be something opposite, Tai Kwon Do or Savant or Moi Tai would be the martial art to learn. On the other hand if you are a kicker but you're not a puncher it is a good idea to go to your local boxing gym or learning Win Chun Kung Fu. Those use the hands so my personal take on how to choose a martial art to learn, choose a martial art that is the exact opposite of what you have done in the past that will challenge you and make you learn something that you would have never learned before. That's how to choose a martial art to learn and my name is Michael Quebec. Thank you."
