"Hi my name is Chris from aquatic central here in San Francisco and on the web at aquatic hyphen central dot com. And I like to tell you how to make your goldfish live longer. It is actually quite simple to do. It's just very important to remember to do the very simple thing of keeping the water clean. If you can keep your water very clean, your fish will stay very healthy and he will live a long and happy life. A goldfish can live easily up to five years. And reach a considerable size. So sometimes even up to a foot depending on the species of goldfish. Keep the fish well fed but don't over feed. Keep the temperature a little bit on the cooler side. Fish thermo regulate so if the temperature is increased the fish's metabolism speeds up and you will actually shorten the life span of the fish. Only moderately but you can. So if you can keep it around seventy degrees Fahrenheit that will be ideal. Goldfish do tend to do well in natural environments so the addition of live plants would be great and just simply having a very efficient filter will work. Any type of filtration is fine as long as it keeps the nitrogen cycle running effectively. And if you can do sufficient water changes to keep the nitrite levels down, that would be great. And there's not much required to make a goldfish live a long and happy life. It's just very important to be diligent about doing what's necessary. Again my name is Chris from aquatic central here in San Francisco and on the web at aquatic hyphen central dot com."
