"My name is Chris from aquatic central here in San Francisco and on the web at aquatic hyphen central dot com. And today I'd like to tell you how to take care of a tropical fish. Proper care of a tropical fish as with all fish, revolves around maintaining good water quality and inducing as minimal stress as possible. Good water quality can be maintained by not over feeding and having some sort of filtration. Inducing minimal stress can be attained by keeping major changes in water parameters to a minimum. There's many species of tropical fish and each will have it's own specific requirements. For example some of the Plocostamus and Hypancistrus genus will require driftwood for rasping. Another example is Discus now they prefer to have a ph range of approximately six point five to six point eight. However, you can maintain healthy Discus at a higher ph for example, I keep mine at approximately seven point two degrees ph but it is a very stable and consistent, there are no major fluctuations. Another good example is the Tigrinus catfish, this fish comes from a riverene system and they do prefer a moderate to high flow requirement. Other fish will have feeding requirements, flow requirements, filtration or lighting requirements. The most important aspect when maintaining tropical fish is maintaining a temperature range of approximately seventy eight to eighty degrees Fahrenheit. Temperature being the most important for a tropical fish and good water quality. Again my name is Chris from aquatic central in San Francisco and on the web at aquatic hyphen central dot com."
