"Hello, my name is Mark MacBayne. I'm the practice administrator for hematology oncology at UCSF Medical Center, and I'm here today to talk about how to become a pharmacy technician. A pharmacy technician is a two year degree program. You will need as a prerequisite to have a high school diploma. And a pharmacy tech is one who assists the pharmacist in providing clinical care for patients, typically related to dispensing and managing medications. A pharmacy technician program can be offered at many junior colleges or there are also free standing programs. On completion you may or may not need to pass and exam in your state and after you have completed your course of study, and passing the required tests in your state or jurisdiction, you are ready to be a pharmacy technician. This is Mark MacBayne, practice administrator for hematology oncology at UCSF Medical Center."
