"Hello, my name is Mark MacBayne. I'm the practice administrator for hematology oncology and adult bone marrow transplant at UCSF Medical Center. I'm here to talk today about how to become an optometrist. To become an optometrist, first you must complete an undergraduate course of study at a four year college or university. Typically, a person interested in a career in optometry would major in a science discipline. However this is not required, as long as you complete all of the science prerequisites. Upon completion of your bachelor's program, you would apply to optometric school. Your additional course of study to become an optometrist is four years and upon completion you are ready to complete an internship under a practicing optometrist, and then sit for your licensing exam, and upon licensure, you are ready to practice as an optometrist. Again, this is Mark MacBayne, hematology oncology and adult bone marrow transplant at University of California San Francisco."
