MSG or Mono Sodium Glutamate is an additive that is often found in many Asian foods as well as many processed and packaged foods. It can often induce side effects such as headaches, nausea or upset stomach. To avoid MSG in your diet, when you go to an Asian restaurant, ask if they use it. Their chef should be able to tell you. Many eateries will be able to leave it out if you request and when you're going grocery shopping, make sure you turn over your product and look at the ingredient label. If it says Mono Sodium Glutamate, that's MSG. And remember, the closer to the top of an ingredient list MSG is, the more of it is in that product. Some products that might contain MSG are things such as canned soups and frozen dinners. Be sure to check the label to make sure there isn't any MSG in them.
