"Hi, this is Liz Muller, from Liz's Hair Design, in Hollywood, Florida. In this clip, we're going to choose a highlight that compliments your hair color. Now, right here we have a dark haired model, and I'm going to use her in exam, as an example. If you have dark hair like this, you might not want to go too light in there, because then it just looks like stripes; yellow and black stripes, and it doesn't do anything for this hair color right here. But instead, you want to choose maybe something that has a caramel color to it, and it doesn't have to be light. Highlights does not mean light. It means that you're just complimenting that hair color; you're adding something to it. You might want to choose something like that. You might want to choose something like this here, these chocolate colored highlights. If you want to get a little bit funky then you can add a little red to it, and then it just gives it a whole different tone. But see, these are okay; you can use these. But when you start gettin' over here, you see how that doesn't really compliment that color? How it looks kind of off, and it's kind of loud? It won't do anything for her. She's just going to look like she's got stripes all over her head. This is Liz Muller, and this is how to choose highlights that compliment your hair color."
