"Hello, my name is Samuel Harvell and I'm a personal fitness trainer and running coach. Today what I would like to do is talk to you about correct breathing while you are running. If you are a 100 meter sprint runner, your breathing pattern is going to be considerably faster than say the breathing pattern of someone who is running a marathon where their pattern of breathing would be considerably slower because they're running for 26.2 miles. So someone who is running a marathon is not going to be breathing at a fast, rapid pace as compared to say a 100 meter runner who has more of a faster breathing pattern. If your long run includes running hills, you're going to have more of a deeper breathing pattern. You're going to breathe in a lot deeper as you're running uphill because you're going almost vertical as you're running up so you're going to breathe, your breathing is going to be a lot more pronounced if you will as you are going up the hill compared to if you were running a flat section of your training run where your breathing is more of a calm, regular breathing pattern. So it depends on what kind of course you are running as part of your training run. If you are running on a completely flat course, then you're going to have more of a normal breathing pattern. But if you're running a course that also includes hills, then you're going to have more of a, you're going to be taking in a lot more deeper breathes as you are going uphill. So depending on the course that you're training for, your breathing pattern is going to change and shift during the run.
