"Hi I'm Jason previous Mac genius and I'm going to show you how to work with audio and capture a sound using Quick time. First of all what I need to talk about is if you have got a microphone you need an interface to connect this to your computer because this microphone uses an XLR cable which is a professional audio cable and that will not connect directly into the Mac so you would need an interface to do that a MIDI interface. There is a bunch out there, Fast Track is one of the ones that I have and you would plug that microphone into the Fast Track and that would be a USB into your computer and then on your computer you go to your system preferences, sound, and we've got three tabs, sound effects, output and input. Our sound effects are our system settings so you can see that that is set for the system setting for sound out. Internal speakers, you would select this if you have got more than one audio output port and for input you can see our little input level here is going. So for our built in microphone that is where we are using it. I clicked on audio line import since there is nothing plugged in and you wouldn't hear me so I am going to leave that unchecked. You can use Ambient noise reduction also for the internal built in mikes which helps. So we have got that selected and what I am going to do now is I am going to jump in to Quick Time and I am going to go file, new audio recording and I'm going to click on this. So now we are recording in Quick Time because I am presenting the audio side of recording and the set up in Mac and we are going to stop and that saved on the desktop. Quick Time automatically opens the file after you do that so we are going to play that and so now we are recording in Quick Time because I am presenting the audio side of recording. So that is how that is done in Quick Time and if you want to export from Quick Time using different resources you do have to have the key from Quick Time Pro. I'm Jason, previous Mac genius and that is all for today."
